Simply works because it works simply.
The new IV/PICC line holder is a novel approach for management of the IV/PICC line tubing and accessories. This is accomplished by 3 unique features, each providing a valuable function for the problem of the redundant, dangling IV tubing. The first component is the band that goes around the ante-cubital fossa (elbow). In this manner, not only is there an additional means of securing the IV/PICC line, but a window located over the IV/PICC insertion site allows for visualization. Next a Velcro strap on the band attaches from one side of the band to the other with the coiled IV tubing secured beneath. Finally an adjoining flap of material pulls down and over the coiled tubing, strap and window. This serves to seal the underlying contents so that they will be free from anything that may result in accidental removal of the IV/PICC line and also keeps the contents protected from prying fingers.

Step 1
Insert IV/PICC line per usual method and then place Tapeless holder so that the oval window is over the insertion site.

Step
2
Secure the holder around arm by means of the Velcro end closure. Note that the large flap sits over the biceps.
Step
3
Bring the tubing out from under the holder at the notch, tightly coil the tubing and then secure the strap over the coil to the material under its far end.
Step
4
Gently fold the large flap down and cover the window and coiled tubing. Secure the flap by a slight lateral pull on the white tabs at the edges of the large flap. Attach to holder.
The tubing of the PICC line is coiled and secured in
place by the velcro strap.
The attached flap covers the underlying IV site and its secured coiled tubing, preventing the accidental removal of the PICC line.
CAUTION: May impair the circulation if too tight. To replace wound dressing, repeat steps 1-4. If soiled, hand wash holder in warm soapy water and air dry.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Material will not fray or unravel should cutting be required to fit patient’s needs. Hook fastener may be attached anywhere on the fabric.
